Pretty little places: San Cristobal de la Casas, Mexico

Pretty little place #3.

I know what you are thinking - but yes, Mexico is very pretty actually! Contrary to popular belief, there is actually a lot more to Mexico than sombreo's, tequila and mostache-ladden drug lords who run around murdering people left, right and centre.

To be honest, Mexico is one of the most beautiful and friendly places that I have ever had the pleasure of visiting, and as long as you stay away from the border [of Mexico and the U.S] it is actually super safe (and cheap!) to travel around.

San Cristobal de la Casas is a beautiful wee city, located in the central highlands of the Mexican state of Chiapas. The most amazing thing about San Cristobal is that it still maintains it's Spanish colonial layout and comes complete with cobble stone streets, red tile roofs, wrought iron balconies and a tonne of the most beautiful cathedrals I have ever seen! It is seriously pretty!

Best of all, San Cristobal isn't just a pretty face - It is widely recognised as the cultural hub of Chiapas, boasting several different local craft markets, a large selection of art galleries and musems and some of the best little cafe's and salsa bars in the country. Also, on a side note - If you like hippies or have any sort of secret desire to leave behind your materlistic life and join in the dity, smelly fun, San Cristobal is where you need to be. This place is literally crawling with super friendly people who enjoy living alternative life styles and what not.

Enough talk! Put down what you are doing and fly to San Cristobal de la Casas now. You will love it!

Look, I'll make it easy for you. Click here to book flights (good old Flight Centre).

Live the dream. And I will live vicariously through you as I prepare to start university.

Llevame de vuelta a Mexico, por favor!
